Akanksha Kumari
Akanksha Kumari is a dance practitioner whose major interest lies in performance and
performance making. Her explorations center around the body while aiming to understand
movement unconventionally with ideas around language, violence, and ambiguity. Her
choreographic experiments stem from questioning a system of language which valorizes pain
and suffering and demands particular standards ‘to behave’.
In the last six years, she has trained in jazz, ballet, and modern dance techniques while having
more inclination towards somatics, body conditioning, and contemporary dance practice. In
2020, Akanksha completed her postgraduate in Performance Practice (Dance) from
Ambedkar University Delhi.
Lately, she has participated and performed in the 7th Dance Education Biennale in Hamburg, Germany. Her solo work “ADAYINMYLIFE” was presented in a program by the 2nd International Forum of Performance Art, Greece (2020). She has previously worked with Vikram Iyengar and Anubha Fatehpuria as part of Five Million Incidents, MMB Delhi (2019). She is also a co-founder of ‘Collective f’. (An independent arts initiative that engages with
contemporary dance and dancers, dance research and performance.)
